Volunteers for our Creative Wellbeing Café

Since summer 2022 our Creative Wellbeing Café has livened up our building on Thursday mornings with affordable and delicious homemade cakes, simple lunches, refreshments and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere provided by our excellent volunteers.
Between 11am and 1pm each week an artist hosts a drop-in creative workshop, suitable for all ages and abilities.
Our volunteers do various roles, including:
– Arriving at 9am and preparing a hot dish for the day such as a soup or a quiche (cook’s choice!)
– Preparing food for serving throughout the day
– Making hot drinks (You don’t need to be barista trained – our set up is simple)
– Taking orders and payment for those orders
– Serving people
– Washing up
The atmosphere is very friendly – you will get to know the regular faces and feel part of the heart of the Bedminster community.
For some of the jobs, we would ask you to have a Hygiene Level 2 Certificate – we can pay for you to complete this online and you can keep that and use that in other roles.
We try and keep the project as volunteer-led as possible: whilst it is overseen by a paid member of staff at acta Community Theatre, the volunteers are encouraged to leave their mark and given lots of creative decision.
Unfortunately, our prep area is quite small and therefore it wouldn’t be suitable for someone who relies on mobility aids. We also have an induction hob – so those with pacemakers may not feel it’s right for them.
Please do get in touch – we are keen to hear from people of all ages and backgrounds. Email rosa@acta-bristol.com

From welcoming, to taking tickets, to showing people to their seats and sitting in the theatre during performances, Front of House can be a varied role. We’re always keen to hear from people who’d like to help out with shows.
