Thriving Theatre originated from acta’s 2021 Hard Evidence project, a partnership with the Biomedical Research Centre. The project looked into using creative methods to disseminate scientific findings, in this case the importance of using mindfulness for trauma to support survivors of domestic violence.
The cast of Hard Evidence were keen to continue working creatively with acta, and worked to set up Thriving Theatre, a creative support group for survivors of domestic abuse, beginning sessions in 2023.
