This week, we are proud to be a part of The Big Give Arts for Impact match-funding campaign.
All donations made, between midday 19th and midday 26th March, will be generously match-funded by New Philanthropy for Arts & Culture – meaning your gifts will go twice as far.
The funds raised will be dedicated to our adult theatre groups acta Company, Pick N Mix, and Cornerstone.
The need for our work is as imperative now as it ever has been due to factors such as the cost of living crisis, the post-COVID environment, and the significant increase in poor mental-health and wellbeing and social isolation amongst the most vulnerable members in our communities.
Your donations will help us to:
Reduce isolation and loneliness
Increase confidence and self-esteem
Increase self-value
Increase sense of purpose and belonging
Improve aspirations
Increase access to the wider creative community
Please read on to hear from participants about the impact acta has had in their lives.
We thank you for your continued support.
Pick n Mix Theatre
Pick n Mix Theatre is acta’s open-access adult group. Since the group has been running, the membership has changed and evolved several times, but has always remained lively, bubbly and friendly. Just like a pick n mix sweet shop – this group is assorted and exciting, everybody is welcome: there is something for everyone.
Cornerstone Theatre Group
Started in September 2020, Cornerstone is a day time open-access theatre group designed specifically to support people facing disadvantage – refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, disabled people, people living in disadvantaged areas, socially isolated older people.
The people of the Cornerstone group have changed several times over the years, but the group has always had a sociable nature, meeting up outside of rehearsal times to get to know one another better.
acta Company
The acta Company is has been in existence in various forms since 2004. The group is for participants who have been in acta shows before and want to continue to develop their theatre skills and love of performance.
The group have devised many very high quality theatre performances over the years, being a constant in the acta theatre schedule. These shows have not only performed at the acta Theatre but have toured community venues all over Bristol and further afield. We were even lucky enough to twice tour their shows to the ICAF (International Community Arts Festival) in Rotterdam, Holland.
