We are seeking a reliable and creative chef to support our holiday projects for young people. The role involves preparing healthy, nutritious meals that comply with school food standards for groups of up to 20 young participants.

Working from our small kitchen at our Bedminster base, you will plan and cook simple, balanced meals that help keep young people energised and supported throughout the day.

Project Dates:

We are looking for a chef to work on the following holiday project dates:

  • 13th & 14th April 9.30am-12.30pm
  • 16th & 17th April 9.30am-12.30pm
  • 28th–31st July 9.30am-12.30pm
  • 10th–13th August 9.30am-12.30pm
  • 17th–20th August 9.30am-12.30pm

(3 hours per day on each project day)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare a two-course healthy meal for up to 20 young people each day
  • Ensure all meals meet school food standards and promote balanced nutrition
  • Purchase ingredients within the daily budget of up to £65 (dependent on participant numbers)
  • Prepare meals safely and efficiently within the 3-hour working period
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Follow all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations

Requirements

  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience cooking for groups or community settings
  • Knowledge of healthy, balanced meals suitable for young people
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Awareness of food allergies and dietary requirements
  • A current DBS (or willing for acta to apply for one)

Desirable

  • Experience working in schools, youth settings, or community organisations
  • Interest in community arts or youth engagement
