We are delighted to be a part of a new cross high-street project between Filwood Broadway and East Street, Bedminster, capturing and sharing community stories at this point of change for both sites. Community stories captured by local people will be turned into an exciting co-created exhibition at Filwood and Bedminster libraries. Led by Bristol Museums and Libraries, this project will work closely with partners embedded in each community.
We will build on our work with the Bedminster community over the last four decades to collect stories for the project. We believe that everyone’s story matters and individual opinions and experiences count, an ethos we’re taking into the project. “This commission gives us an opportunity to connect with people and communities we haven’t yet reached, and to create something that reflects the diverse nature and cultural heritage of Bedminster” (Sara Snook, Creative Producer).
Filwood Community Centre are leading story collection from their base in the heart of the community at Filwood Broadway and Knowle West Media Centre will work the stories collected in both Filwood and Bedminster into an interactive new exhibition to be displayed at Filwood Community Centre and Bedminster Library.
We’re working with three fantastic Community Connectors to gather the stories in this neck of the woods – look out for James, Natasha, and Tracey who will be keen to hear your memories!
