In mid July, we released our Annual Report for the financial year ending March 2026. We did this at a low-key and welcoming AGM, where alongside reports and speeches we enjoyed nibbles and freshly home-made cake.
Attended by most of our trustees, some of our Youth Advisory Board, volunteers, participants, freelancers, staff, and donors alike – we enjoyed the chance to get to know one another and to reflect on another year of community, creativity, and connection.

Foreword from Sanjit Chudha, Chair of the Board of Trustees
2025/26 has been a momentous year for acta, as we celebrated our 40th anniversary, improved our building and launched a new Friends scheme. These achievements came against an increasingly challenging funding environment for arts and community organisations, making it more important than ever that we remain ambitious, resilient and prudent.
Throughout the year, acta continued to show the power of co-created theatre to bring people together, build confidence and amplify voices that are too often unheard. Our groups, projects and partnerships have created welcoming spaces for creativity, connection and wellbeing, from our regular companies in Bedminster to work with schools, communities, cultural organisations and partners across Bristol and beyond.
We are deeply grateful to our staff, freelancers, volunteers, Board, funders, donors, partners and supporters, whose commitment makes this work possible.
Forty years on, acta remains a safe, imaginative and welcoming place where people can tell their own stories and be heard. At a time of isolation, disadvantage and uncertainty for many, our work has never felt more relevant or more needed.
